My Labour weekend was spent relaxing and writing in Akaroa on a writer's retreat that my previous boss, who also edited/proofread Her Waiting List, organised and hosted. I hadn't put pen to paper for nearly two months, mostly due to doing the final e-book publication preparation for Her Waiting List along with organising the book launch for it plus doing the paperwork for and submitting Her Long Goodbye to WestBow Press in America.
Akaroa's beautiful scenery helped me to refocus on my writing. Below is a teaser from the freshly penned chapter Promised Land from my current book project, Called to Thrive. Based on the chapters I want to cover in the book I only have a couple left to write.
Feel free to write any thoughts/reflects on the teaser. Enjoy the beautiful photos taken at a couple of the spots which I sat to write.

Excerpt from Called to Thrive - Promised Land
As I pen these words I find myself at a hilltop cemetery in Akaroa looking around at the engraved names and dates wondering how many of these people died in the wilderness and why. My heart feels heavy for the joy and promises they were robbed off. This spurs me to not despise the wilderness, but to embrace its purpose of preparation and lean into God who will lead me out at the perfect time.
Like the Israelites some perish in the wilderness, having never stepped foot on their Promised Land. They set up camp in the wilderness, knowing or unknowingly, settling for the landscape around them or failing to see that it is the wilderness they are in.
