In Mark 16 Jesus says: “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone… These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages… They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”
One of my colleagues has/had suffered from gluten intolerance for some time when I asked her if anyone had laid hands on her and prayed for her to be healed from it. She told me no one had and then asked me if I would. With not having much experience in praying for healing I shied away from her request, discounting myself, somehow thinking that God wouldn’t use me for such a miracle. That night I felt God question me as to why I didn’t want to pray for her to be healed. I felt convicted to step out of the boat and pray for her.
The following day I went into work and told her I’d love to pray for her. I spent most of that day wondering when we would get a chance to do this. But I needn’t have worried for God had it all set up. I had walked to work that morning and when I went to leave I realised it was pouring with rain. My colleague gave me a lift home. We sat in her car outside my house and I prayed for her gluten intolerance to be gone and for her body to be restored. And it was. Over the coming days she told me how well she felt and quickly her bloated tummy was bloated no longer.
Feeling incredibly encouraged by what happened with my colleague I spoke to a family member about the healing when she was over at my house for a coffee. This particular family member also has/had a gluten intolerance. She asked if I could pray for her. Before she left my house that day I prayed for her to receiving healing for the intolerance. And so it was done.
Both these healings took place two weeks ago and both women appear to have been completely healed from their gluten intolerance. This leaves me speechless and in such awe of the majestic and goodness of God.
Next time God prompts you to pray for someone be encouraged not discouraged. If you find yourself feeling discouraged or afraid or trying to discount yourself from doing what God has prompted you to do, know that that is the enemy at work and you can’t let him win. For God may want to use you to unlock someone’s healing and to build your faith and theirs! Don’t pass up that opportunity no matter the cost to you.
