In the third installment of the Her Long Goodbye series we finally got to hear from Dan. But we never got to find out what was going on in his life when he met Mia. What was going through his mind when he wrote Mia those letters? What was happening on the days he went to give them to her but didn’t? Why did he wait so long to give her the letters?

Even though we know how things end for Dan and Mia, the Her Long Goodbye series leaves many questions unanswered. It is time they were answered…

_______________________________________________________________

There were moments when Dan wanted to run away from the memories of London, places that had become so entwined with Mia he was not sure if he could ever visit them without remembering her. Most of all he wanted to run away from his job, the thing that he had put before everything else.

As Dan opened the door to a world without Mia the tears began to pool beneath his eyes. He longed to look back, to see if she was still standing on the other side of the door watching him, for her to see that he did have a heart and that he cared. But he just could not bring himself to.

I wish we had met sooner, so I could have loved you for longer. But more than that, I wish I had the courage to tell you I love you, Dan whispered as he walked away.

The gripping third chapter in the Her Long Goodbye series. Released in 2016.

Zara rubbed her fingers over the bold black letters before cautiously picking up the envelope. It contained words laced with secrets which had been hidden for too long. Words that Dan had never shared with anyone, not even Mia. Zara opened the envelope and began to read.

Somehow I made myself believe that it was easier to lose you because of my own decision, even though I loved you, than to lose you because of some other reason. Somehow you had crawled right under my skin without me even knowing it.

The letters take them back in time on an untold journey. As Zara starts unravelling the story she finds herself wishing they had never found the letters. But it’s too late. It was time for Dan’s letters and Zara to return to London.

If you are sitting listening to my voice right now then I got some courage from somewhere (maybe from Elliot) to share this with you myself. If you find yourself reading these words by yourself I am sorry. I have so much to be sorry for. Mostly it evolves around being sorry for being such a coward. I never knew what true love looked and felt like until I met you and the power of that love scared me. It still scares me especially as I embark on asking you to be my wife. But hopefully you read this after I have asked you that question and you’ve said yes.

I think I loved you from the first moment I saw you in Café di Londra, when you turned around to ask me about the origins of my tattered t-shirt that I had almost swapped for a shirt that morning. From that day until we met again I would often find myself staring out the Tube window thinking of you, wondering what you were doing and wondering what the details of your life were. I was scared of so much, but mostly scared of having no control over losing you. Somehow I made myself believe that it was easier to lose you because of my own decision, even though I loved you, than lose you because of some other reason. What other reason that might have been I actually don’t know. I see now how foolish that was. When I heard you and Zara talking in my bathroom (you know that time you pretended to go to the toilet and took like 15 minutes!) I realised how much you cared and it scared me because it made me realise how much I adored you...

Called to Thrive

In Called to Thrive Mauchline discusses real life issues that are facing Christians today and links it to the season of being single. She does this from a deeply personal level, reaching into and sharing from her experiences of being a single Christian in her thirties.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you…”

We thrive through keeping good Christian habits such as praying regularly, having fellowship with other believers and reading the bible, but also through keeping God as our focus, our source of comfort and living a life of no compromise.

God calls us to thrive. The world needs you to thrive. But are you?

________________________________________________________

Mia’s life was fragmented by moments of impact. Moments that left tears in her memory and stains on her heart. Her dad’s death. The day her world shook apart. Her unsaid goodbye to Toby.

She set out to find her place in the world. With having barely stepped foot in London she’d fallen in love. Its beauty and splendour captivated her far deeper than anything or anyone else had before. Then she met Dan.

“He loves me, he loves me not. He…” Mia looked down, realising all the petals were gone. “Oh.” She threw the naked bud to the ground. “Am I not worth fighting for?” If love wasn’t a game then why did she feel like she was being cheated?

Following her return from London she felt trapped between her past and her future, between two loves, two men who didn’t love her back. Or had she mistaken her love for theirs?

Anna yearned to be married, but a failed relationship from her past threatened to derail her future. Her desire to believe in fairy-tales once more was delicately poised on how her friend’s romantic relationships were being played out. But as Anna neared her thirties the layers of unbelief were increasing, threatening to completely shatter her belief in fairy-tales.

Like a first impression prince, a frog will often not be what he seems.

Ed longed to see Anna find her fairy-tale and that is where his online dating bet came in. Twelve months of saying yes to every guy who asked Anna out on a first date, provided he was a Christian and not obviously psychotic. And that was where the fun and trouble began for Anna…
