Suffering and sickness are the result of living in a fallen world. A question often asked is why does God allow suffering to ran rampant in the world and if He has the power to end all the suffering why doesn’t He. The answer is that He does have the power to end it all and He wants to, that is why He has created a plan to end all suffering. This will happen when heaven invades earth and Jesus returns. In the meantime God is still working miracles to ease suffering and to heal people. However, no matter how much we are healed on earth we are still living in a broken world and we can never be fully restored this side of heaven. Revelation 21:4 says: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
Healing can happen in an instant or gradually or with the assistance of medication or it can happen when we enter heaven. Be encouraged, it will happen. It’s just a question of when! I don’t know why all healings don’t happen this side of heaven and why not in an instance. But I know and trust that God uses all things, even suffering, to witness to people.
Psalm 145:9 says: “The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” We must remember that God doesn’t cause suffering because He is a good God and only good things come from Him, instead it is that He allows suffering. Like in the story of Job where God allowed the enemy to sift Job and test his faith. I believe this pained God to do because He loved Job lavishly which was shown by His favour upon Job with God giving Job twice as much as what had been taken from him by the enemy. God too loves you lavishly. I believe when God sees us suffering, even if it’s for our own good, He moans and groans with us. He loves us that much. Jesus died on the cross for our salvation but also for our healing. Isaiah 53:5 talks about how by Jesus’s wounds we are healed. With ever lash that he took, it was for your healing.
Psalm 103:2-4: Praise the Lord, my soul, and not forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.
Regardless of whether it is your body or heart that need healing, know that God is healing you to wholeness and that one day you will stand before him in complete perfection, free from suffering and affliction, just how it was meant to be.
