Our lives are shaped by moments of impact, both good and bad moments. These moments can shake us to the core and can change the direction of our lives and break our hearts. When you reflect on your life what moments of impact have shaped your life? Both good and bad moments? It’s natural to just default to the bad moments. But what about the good?
In Her Long Goodbye we read about the moments of impact that fragmented Mia’s life. Moments that left tears in her memory and stains on her heart. Her dad’s death. The day her world shook apart. Her unsaid goodbye to Toby.
When I look back I think of the moment I found out that my parents were separating when I was 6yrs old, when I got a call at work to say one of my colleagues had been killed in a car accident, the moment I first met Tom (a guy I met in London who I fell hopelessly in love with in London), then saying goodbye to Tom at the Warren Street Underground Station 14 months later, seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time and being in the city centre during February 2011 earthquake which got severely damaged.
But why are these moments of impact? Moments of impact shape us! But it’s up to you if you let it shape you for the better or worse and you hold the key as to whether you get stuck in that moment, no matter how long ago, or let it propel you forward.
