A while ago I was having a moan to a friend about how I don’t know any single Christian guys in my age bracket. She said she had a couple of friends who were in that age bracket and Christian. She told me some basic information about two of these guys including occupation and what role they have in church and offered to set me up with one of them. Now which one did I want to be set up with?! It was a tricky one until I read that one of them played the guitar. We’ll call him Sam. At that moment I vowed I would not look him up on Facebook or any other form of social media. A couple of days later I got sick and spent most of the next two weeks in bed. I barely gave a thought to Sam.
Three weeks after my friend gave Sam my number he called. (Calling not texting or Facebooking?!) To be fair he had told my friend that he would likely not call for a couple of weeks as he was going to be really busy. I sat staring at my phone with the unknown number flashed up on the screen. I wondered if it was Sam. I answered it and a really awkward conversation took place, which included some pleasantries and those awkward moments of both talking at the same time. Let’s be honest, any phone conversation that involves two strangers arranging when to meet for the first time is going to be awkward. We agreed to meet for coffee in two days’ time. After I got off the phone the scenario suddenly became real and all I desired was to Facebook stalk the guy. And I didn’t, although we only got off the phone half an hour ago and it’s still Friday night.
